How many wallpaper rolls do I need?

Roll count is arithmetic plus a little humility. Pattern repeats, murals and out-of-square walls change the answer. Use this method, then let us confirm on site before you pay for print.
The formula we use
- Measure wall width × height in feet (or convert metres).
- Subtract door and window areas (and large built-in cupboards you will not paper).
- Add 10–15% wastage (higher for big repeats and beginners).
- Divide by roll coverage. Many rolls are sold around 57 sq ft; always read the label. Our calculator default is 57 and is configurable.
Round up. A fraction of a roll is still a roll. For a worked tool, open the wallpaper calculator and send the result on WhatsApp once the number is live.
Example (illustrative, not a quote)
A feature wall 12 ft wide and 10 ft high is 120 sq ft. Minus a 15 sq ft window is 105. Plus 15% wastage ≈ 121. At 57 sq ft per roll you need 3 rolls, not 2. If the paper has a large drop match, you may need a fourth — that is why we ask for the collection name.
Murals are often sold as panel sets for the wall, not as 57 sq ft rolls. Custom prints follow the measured rectangle. Do not force mural math into standard roll math.
Faridabad gotchas
AC units, false-ceiling drops, and chunky skirting change the net area. Two walls in an L-shaped living room are two calculations. Stairs and double-height foyers need a site visit, not a blog.
Installation waste is real: wallpaper installation is where matching happens. Buying “exact” rolls with zero spare is how you panic if a drop is damaged.
